Chances are, you've heard something about this movie, which was written and directed by Cameron Crowe, based on his own experiences as a young rock reporter. It's a charming, funny, and even cathartic flick about a teenage boy (Patrick Fugit) whose dreams of being a rock journalist lead him on a coming-of-age tour with a fledgling band. Pauley has a small role near the beginning of the film as a radio disc jockey named Alice Wisdom who interviews rock critic Lester Bangs (Philip Seymour Hoffman, Pauley's favorite actor). The character is based on real-life DJ Gabriel Wisdom, who was indeed interviewing Lester Bangs when Cameron Crowe encountered him in real life.
